Carpenter Framing

Established in the Blue Ridge foothills of North Carolina in 1963, Leonard Buildings and Truck Accessories is a manufacturer and distributor whose product lines include storage buildings, cargo and utility trailers, truck covers, truck and van accessories, carports, playhouses, chicken coops, and dog houses. We serve our residential, commercial, fleet, and government customers through our 150+ retail store locations in eighteen states, supported by our corporate offices (in Mount Airy, NC, and Cobden, IL), distribution centers, and strategically located manufacturing facilities.

Job Summary:

The Carpenter, Framing position is based at the Leonard Mt. Airy, NC building manufacturing plant, with operations in the U.S. and has overall responsibility for the construction of metal and wood buildings. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager and does not have direct reports.

Job Responsibilities:

Studies specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare a projects layout. Constructs buildings according to specifications, including windows and doors, and finishing interiors. Determines dimensions and materials required. Shapes and/or cuts materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws. Assembles and fastens materials to make framework using hand tools, wood screws, and nails. Builds or repairs doors, frameworks, floors, or other fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, carpenter's hand tools, or power tools. Erects framework for structures. Installs structures or fixtures, such as windows, and door frames using carpenter's hand or power tools. Verifies trueness of structure using a carpenter's level. Inspects work to ensure it meets quality standards and makes necessary adjustments to meet specifications. Adheres to safety protocols and maintains a clean workspace. Assists in other duties within the carpentry manufacturing plant, including the following: Erector/Siding. Painting/Trim Press/Rafting Ramps/Accessories. Small Structures.

Education/Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift heavy objects, up to 50 pounds. Physical stamina to stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods. Ability to work in awkward and cramped positions. Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Ability to repeat the same or similar movements. Good vision, including depth perception. Ability to work in various weather conditions, such as extreme heat or cold, in a manufacturing plant environment. Ability to hear and talk. Ability to keep up with productions fast pace.
