$40- $55 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated ability Job Overview Approved Custom Carpenters is seeking an experienced Master Carpenter / Lead Carpenter to lead a skilled residential remodeling crew and oversee high-quality home improvement projects from start to finish. This is a hands-on leadership position for a highly capable carpenter who takes pride in exceptional workmanship, understands how to manage a residential jobsite, and can guide other skilled carpenters and helpers effectively. The right candidate will be able to review the project scope, organize daily work, coordinate the crew, anticipate problems, communicate professionally with homeowners, and ensure every project is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. Our projects include kitchen and bathroom remodeling, finish carpentry, flooring, framing, drywall, doors, windows, trim, cabinetry, tile, and general residential renovations. Primary Responsibilities Lead and work alongside a team of skilled carpenters and helpers on residential remodeling projects. Organize daily jobsite activities and assign work according to each team member's abilities. Review project scopes, plans, drawings, measurements, and installation requirements before beginning work. Perform and supervise framing, finish carpentry, cabinetry, trim work, door and window installation, flooring, drywall, and general remodeling. Coordinate kitchen and bathroom renovation work, including proper sequencing of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, tile, flooring, and finishing trades. Identify jobsite problems early and develop practical, professional solutions. Maintain excellent craftsmanship throughout every phase of the project. Inspect completed work and correct deficiencies before presenting the project to the customer. Keep projects moving efficiently while maintaining quality and attention to detail. Monitor material needs and communicate shortages or additional requirements promptly. Protect customers' homes, maintain an organized work area, and ensure jobsites are cleaned properly each day. Enforce safe use of ladders, hand tools, power tools, and jobsite equipment. Communicate professionally and respectfully with customers, coworkers, subcontractors, suppliers, and company management. Provide clear updates regarding project progress, scheduling concerns, unforeseen conditions, and requested changes. Help train and mentor other crew members to improve their skills, productivity, and workmanship. Ensure that additional customer requests are reported to management before extra work is performed. Required Qualifications Minimum of 10 years of professional residential carpentry or remodeling experience preferred. Extensive hands-on experience leading residential renovation and home improvement projects. Strong knowledge of rough carpentry, finish carpentry, framing, trim, cabinetry, doors, windows, drywall, flooring, and general construction. Ability to lead a crew while remaining actively involved in the work. Ability to read plans, technical drawings, manufacturer instructions, project scopes, and detailed measurements. Ability to accurately lay out work and complete installations plumb, level, square, and properly finished. Strong understanding of residential construction methods, job sequencing, and building materials. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. High standards for fit, finish, cleanliness, and customer satisfaction. Ability to recognize work that does not meet professional standards and ensure it is corrected. Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills. Dependable, punctual, and able to manage daily responsibilities without constant supervision. Professional appearance and respectful conduct in customers' homes. Valid driver's license and dependable transportation. Ability to safely lift and carry construction materials and perform the physical duties associated with residential remodeling. Must have reliable professional references. Preferred Experience Experience in several of the following areas is strongly preferred: Kitchen and bathroom remodeling Custom and finish carpentry Cabinet installation and modification Interior and exterior door installation Window installation Wood and metal framing Drywall installation and repair Baseboard, casing, crown molding, and other trim Luxury vinyl plank and hardwood flooring Tile installation and waterproofing systems Stair, railing, and built-in installation Residential punch-list and corrective work Coordinating licensed plumbing and electrical subcontractors Candidates are not expected to personally perform licensed electrical or plumbing work unless properly licensed. However, the lead carpenter must understand proper project sequencing and be able to coordinate effectively with licensed trades.
