Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Boat Carpenter to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for constructing, repairing, and restoring boats with precision and craftsmanship. Your expertise in woodworking, construction techniques, and understanding of technical drawings will ensure that each vessel meets the highest standards of quality and safety. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of boat projects, from new builds to restoration efforts, contributing to the creation of durable and beautiful watercraft. Responsibilities Read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and technical drawings to accurately execute boat building and repair tasks Use hand tools and power tools designed for woodworking and metalworking to cut, shape, assemble, and install boat components Construct and install structural elements such as frames, siding, flooring, and decks using wood construction materials and metal studs when necessary Perform restoration work including water damage repair, rebar installation for reinforcement, stucco application, caulking, and siding replacement Fabricate custom parts through woodworking machines and manual techniques to ensure precise fitment within boat structures Handle heavy lifting safely during the transportation and installation of large boat components Maintain a clean and organized workspace while adhering to power tool safety protocols Skills Extensive experience in construction estimating, blueprint reading, and interpreting technical drawings Proficiency with hand tools such as saws, chisels, hammers, and measuring devices; adept with power tools for woodworking including drills, sanders, routers Strong background in carpentry with specialization in woodworking, residential carpentry, trim carpentry, frame carpentry, metal stud framing, and flooring installation Knowledge of woodworking machines for fabrication tasks; familiarity with woodworking materials used in boat building Experience with construction site operations including concrete forming, plastering, rebar installation, mold remediation, remodeling projects, fixture installation, and construction painting Ability to perform water damage restoration work effectively; skilled in siding installation and heavy lifting techniques Competence in handling construction plans related to boat fabrication or restoration projects; interpreting technical drawings accurately Understanding of power tool safety standards; experience working on construction sites with various safety protocols involved in heavy-duty projects Familiarity with the restoration industry including stucco application, caulking techniques, water damage repair processes Additional handyman skills such as door hanging or tile laying are considered a plus Join our team if you're passionate about craftsmanship in boat building!
