Carpenter - Trade Show and Events Position Summary Exponents is seeking a skilled and dependable Carpenter to support the fabrication, preparation, prebuild, installation, refurbishment, and repair of custom trade show exhibits and related components. This position requires strong woodworking and fabrication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced production and warehouse environment. The Carpenter will work closely with Operations, Project Management, Graphics, Electrical, AV, Warehouse, and Installation & Dismantle (I&D) teams to ensure exhibit components are built accurately, safely, and on schedule. Because our work supports live trade shows and events, the ideal candidate must be comfortable working against firm deadlines and adapting to changing production requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Minimum 5+ years in laminating, cabinet making and all types of carpentry is MUST. Carpentry & Fabrication Build and fabricate custom trade show exhibit components according to drawings, specifications, and project requirements. Construct walls, counters, cabinets, shelving, platforms, displays, crates, and other exhibit components. Measure, cut, assemble, laminate, and finish wood and other materials accurately. Install hardware, hinges, doors, locks, shelving, trim, and other components. Modify existing exhibit components when required to meet updated project specifications. Perform repairs and refurbishment of returned exhibit components. Preparation of components for paint, graphics, electrical, AV, and final assembly. Build and repair shipping crates and protective packaging when required. Identify construction issues, missing components, or discrepancies during prebuild. Communicate issues immediately to the Operations Manager, or appropriate project team. Make approved adjustments or repairs necessary to ensure the exhibit is show-ready. Refurbishment & Returns Inspect returned exhibit components for damage, excessive wear, missing hardware, or required repairs. Complete assigned refurbishment and repair work so assets can be returned to show-ready condition. Determine whether components can be repaired or should be escalated for replacement. Maintain reusable exhibit assets to extend their service life and reduce unnecessary replacement costs. Keep repaired and refurbished materials organized and ready for future projects. Warehouse & Operational Support Safely move and stage exhibit components throughout production, prebuild, inbound, and outbound areas. Assist with loading and unloading materials when needed. Maintain an organized carpentry work area and properly store tools, materials, and supplies. Coordinate with Warehouse and Operations teams to ensure completed components are properly staged for the correct project. Safety & Equipment Safely operate woodworking and fabrication equipment including table saws, miter saws, panel saws, routers, drills, sanders, nail guns, and other power and hand tools. Follow all Exponents safety procedures and OSHA requirements. Wear required PPE while working in production, warehouse, and jobsite environments. Inspect tools and equipment before use and immediately report unsafe or damaged equipment. Maintain clean work areas and keep aisles, exits, and equipment zones free of hazards. Qualifications Previous professional carpentry, cabinetmaking, exhibit fabrication, scenic fabrication, millwork, or similar experience. Strong knowledge of woodworking tools, equipment, materials, and construction methods. Ability to accurately read a tape measure and perform basic construction-related calculations. Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, floor plans, elevations, and construction details. Experience working with plywood, MDF, laminates, dimensional lumber, acrylic, hardware, and related fabrication materials. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to troubleshoot and solve fabrication problems. Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a production team. Ability to prioritize work and meet strict project and shipping deadlines. Willingness to work overtime, evenings, or weekends during peak trade show periods when required. Trade show, exhibit house, event production, scenic fabrication, or custom millwork experience is a plus.

Effective communication of problems before projects reach final QC or shipment. Specific goals and KPIs will be established by management and may be adjusted based on business needs. Ability to stand and work on your feet for extended periods. Ability to bend, kneel, climb, reach, push, and pull throughout the workday. Ability to safely work around forklifts, moving crates, power tools, machinery, and active production areas. Ability to work in both warehouse and production environments.
