As a Trades Specialist (Carpenter) at CDPC, you will perform a variety of carpentry and maintenance duties involving the construction, installation, and repair of fixtures and structures on the CDPC campus and outpatient residences.

Tasks may include:

Constructing, installing, repairing, and maintaining counters, cabinets, benches partitions, floors, doors, building framework, roofs, trim, and other structural components. Performing carpentry work using standard trade practices and techniques. Working with a variety of building materials including, but not limited to, wood, sheet metal, plastic, and aluminum. Installing, repairing, and replacing ceiling and floor tiles. Maintaining, servicing, and safely operating carpentry shop machinery and equipment. Overseeing the distribution, maintenance, and storage of carpentry tools and maintaining inventory. Providing instruction and supervising assigned staff to complete carpentry-related projects when required. Minimum Qualifications • Four (4) years of full-time experience in carpentry work under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program, or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in carpentry at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services; or Successful completion of a two-year carpenter training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program• such as the New York State Civil Service Employees Association-Partnership Applied Skilled Trades Traineeship and Certificate Program. Successful completion of a training program includes a total of 288 hours of trade-specific classroom instruction, 45 hours of technical math course work, 45 hours of technical communications course work, and 15 hours of blueprint/schematic reading course work. Course work must be completed with an average of "C" or better.
