Carpenter Job Description This role focuses on a wide range of carpentry and general construction tasks, including installing and replacing drywall and sheetrock, building and finishing interior structures, and completing detailed trim and finish work. You will contribute to both new construction and renovation projects, working with various materials and tools to deliver high-quality results. Responsibilities Install and replace drywall and sheetrock with precise measurements and clean finishes. Install drop ceilings according to project specifications and safety standards. Install countertops, trim, and crown molding with a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail. Perform metal and wood framing for doors, walls, and other structural elements. Install cabinets securely and accurately, ensuring proper alignment and functionality. Install baseboards and crown molding to complete interior spaces with professional finishes. Install toilets and sinks as part of basic fixture installation within construction projects. Read and interpret blueprints to understand project requirements and layout. Accurately read and use a tape measure to cut and fit materials to required dimensions. Perform brick laying, grout work, caulking, and masonry-related tasks as needed on the job site. Use a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete assigned tasks. Hang drywall, including cutting, fitting, and fastening panels, and preparing surfaces for finishing. Assist with general labor tasks on construction sites, including material handling and site cleanup. Follow all site safety rules and guidelines, including those related to OSHA standards. Collaborate with other trades and team members to complete projects on time and to quality standards. Essential Skills Minimum of 1 year of industry experience working on a construction site. Proficiency in carpentry and general construction tasks, including installation and finishing work. Ability to install and replace drywall and sheetrock with consistent quality. Ability to perform metal and wood framing for doors and other structural components. Experience with hanging drywall, including measuring, cutting, and fastening. Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for cutting and fitting materials. Ability to read and interpret blueprints to execute work according to specifications. Experience with brick laying, grout work, caulking, and basic masonry tasks. Skilled in the use of hand and power tools commonly used in carpentry and construction. Capability to install cabinets, countertops, baseboards, and crown molding. Ability to install basic plumbing fixtures such as toilets and sinks. Physical ability to lift up to 100 pounds and perform manual labor throughout the workday. Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship. Reliability and ability to work scheduled shifts consistently. Additional Skills & Qualifications OSHA 10 Certification preferred but not required. Experience with drop ceiling installation. Familiarity with general labor tasks on construction sites, including material handling and site organization. Comfort working with a variety of construction materials and finishes. You will work both indoors and outdoors depending on project needs, handling materials, tools, and equipment in a physically demanding environment that requires frequent lifting, bending, and standing. Travel to job locations may be required, including sites located more than 35 miles from the office, with travel pay available for these assignments. Work attire typically consists of practical, job-site appropriate clothing and safety gear suitable for construction environments. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Orchard Park, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
