Job Description

Overview Join our JDH construction's team as a Journeyman Carpenter and bring expert craftsmanship to a variety of residential and commercial projects. In this role, you will be responsible for interpreting construction plans, executing precise measurements, and building durable structures using a wide range of hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery. Your expertise will ensure high-quality finishes and adherence to safety standards across all phases of construction and restoration projects. This is an exciting opportunity for skilled carpenters eager to showcase their craftsmanship while working on diverse projects that make a real impact. Duties Read and interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, and construction plans to accurately execute project specifications. Measure, cut, assemble, and install wood framing, drywall, trim, stucco, and other wood construction materials with precision. Operate hand tools, power tools for woodworking, CNC machines, and woodworking machinery safely and efficiently. Perform rebar installation, water damage restoration, mold remediation, masonry work, and other specialized restoration tasks. Fabricate custom fixtures and components using carpentry techniques; install fixtures such as cabinets, moldings, and hardware. Conduct heavy lifting safely during material handling; assist with remodeling projects and site cleanup as needed. Follow power tool safety protocols diligently while maintaining a clean and organized work environment on construction sites. Skills Extensive experience in construction estimating and interpreting technical drawings to plan work accurately. Proficiency with blueprint reading, construction plans, and technical specifications essential for precise execution. Skilled in using hand tools, power tools for woodworking, woodworking machines, and masonry equipment. Strong background in residential carpentry including framing, trim carpentry, drywall installation, caulking, stucco application, and fixture installation. Knowledge of rebar installation, mold remediation techniques, water damage restoration processes, and general remodeling procedures. Familiarity with the restoration industry standards; experience with fabrication techniques and CNC machinery is a plus. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely; experience with construction site safety protocols including power tool safety is required. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex construction documents; effective communication on job sites is essential.
