Local 503 Position FTE 1 End date, if applicable Position Summary Brief Description of PSU/School/Dept Facilities and Property Management ( FPM ) comprises approximately 80 full time and 60 student employees who work together to maintain over 5 million square feet in downtown Portland, and this team is a key element in the department. Position Summary This position performs journey-level commercial carpentry construction, maintenance and repair on the interior and exterior areas of campus buildings. The position is part of the In-House Construction crew in Facilities and Property Management (FPM). Minimum Qualifications from Classification Experience as a skilled carpenter. The experience must include form building; rough framing; outside and inside finishing; layout; care and use of tools and woodworking machinery; blueprint reading; and application of safety standards and codes; OR Completion of an apprenticeship (four years) under a skilled carpenter which included experience as listed above. Additional Minimum Qualifications for this Position 2 years experience working as a journeyman level carpenter. Good communication skills. Successful completion of a background check. Valid Driver's License. High School Diploma or GED Willing and able to wear a half mask respirator. Preferred Qualifications 5 years experience working at a journeyman carpenter level, in commercial construction or in a school or institutional environment. Experience working both independently and directing non-skilled labor. Various equipment operation certification or licenses. HAZMAT training. Journeyman card. Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement The starting hourly salary rate for this position is between $25.00 and $30.11 plus a monthly recruitment and retention bonus equal to 10% of the base salary which equates to $27.50 to $33.12 per hour. The starting salary will be dependent upon the knowledge, experience, skills and abilities of the chosen candidate, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.
