Job Description

Restoration Technician - Carpentry & Mitigation Job Description This role combines hands-on carpentry, painting, and drywall work with property restoration services for commercial buildings affected by water, fire, and mold damage. The technician reports to the local office, travels to regional job sites, and supports mitigation and restoration projects by performing framing, finish work, water extraction, demolition, debris removal, and basic computer data entry. This is an entry- to mid-level, field-based position with significant overtime and on-call responsibilities, ideal for someone mechanically inclined who wants to grow in the property restoration industry. Responsibilities Report to the local office and travel to commercial job sites throughout the region as assigned. Perform carpentry tasks including framing, finish trim work, cabinet work, and board ups to secure and restore properties. Hang, tape, and finish drywall, including sanding and preparing surfaces for painting. Carry out painting tasks by reading work orders or instructions, preparing surfaces, and applying paint to walls, trim, and other surfaces. Smooth surfaces and remove old paint to prepare areas for new finishes. Fill nail holes, cracks, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers to create smooth, finished surfaces. Protect floors, furnishings, and fixtures by spreading drop cloths and covering surfaces such as baseboards, door frames, and windows with masking tape and paper. Assist with mitigation and restoration work for water, fire, and mold damage, including water extraction, drying, and mold remediation. Support water treatment activities as part of property restoration projects. Perform demolition work and debris removal safely and efficiently as part of restoration and repair efforts. Follow direction from the crew chief and supervisors, ask for assistance when needed, and collaborate with the team to complete projects on time. Use basic computer skills to enter job and project information, including entering data into spreadsheets and using copy-and-paste functions. Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to emergency and catastrophic loss events, including traveling as needed to affected locations. Work extended hours, including overtime, as required by project demands (often 60 to 90 hours per week when needed). Load and unload tools, materials, and restoration equipment from trucks at the facility and at job sites. Operate in the field as a front-line responder to property damage events, helping restore buildings after fires, floods, and other losses. Maintain a professional appearance and represent the company positively at all times. Drive or ride in company vehicles to job sites, adhering to all safety and driving guidelines. Read and interpret tape measurements accurately to support precise carpentry and installation work. Adhere to all safety procedures, company policies, and quality standards on every project. Essential Skills Hands-on carpentry experience, including framing, finish trim, cabinet work, and board ups. Proficiency with drywall installation, taping, and finishing, including hanging and finishing drywall panels. Ability to perform painting tasks, including surface preparation, smoothing, and application of paint. Experience using caulk, putty, plaster, and other fillers to repair and prepare surfaces. Basic understanding of mitigation and restoration work for water, fire, and mold damage. Ability to perform demolition and debris removal safely and efficiently. Mechanical aptitude and ability to use common hand and power tools for construction and restoration tasks. Basic computer skills, including entering data into spreadsheets and using copy-and-paste functions. Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for carpentry and installation work. Willingness and availability to work 60 to 90 hours per week when needed, including overtime and on-call shifts. Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation for emergency and catastrophic loss response. Ability to travel as required to various project sites for restoration work. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record when hired on. Ability to pass a company background check and remain drug free. Ability to follow directions closely and work under the guidance of a crew chief or supervisor. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Allentown, PA.
