Job Title:
Lead Carpenter Job Description The Construction Carpenter is a hands-on leader who oversees both factory assembly crews and field crews on shell/core projects. You will supervise teams in Los Angeles and travel across California to train and lead temporary and local labor, ensuring quality, safety, and adherence to schedules. This role involves working alongside crews, particularly in drywall and metal framing, to drive productivity and craftsmanship. Responsibilities Lead, train, and supervise crews for factory assembly and on-site shell/core projects. Work alongside crews performing tasks such as drywall, metal stud framing, and basic finishes. Plan daily work, allocate labor and equipment, and conduct start-of-shift huddles and end-of-day debriefs. Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schedules; raise RFIs as needed. Enforce safety programs and ensure compliance with HCD requirements and California Building Code. Track production, QC punch lists, materials, tool inventories, and waste/rework metrics. Report progress, risks, and corrective actions to the Project Manager; support schedule recovery plans. Travel statewide for assignments, with housing provided during travel. Essential Skills in drywall and metal stud framing. 2+ years in a carpentry/foreman/lead/supervisor role managing multi-trade or framing/drywall crews. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is required. Ability to recruit, train, and motivate teams with a 'lead by doing' style. Proficient in reading drawings, sequencing work, and coordinating with other trades. Strong commitment to safety, housekeeping, and quality control. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation; willingness to travel across California. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with modular or off-site construction. Familiarity with HCD requirements. Why Work Here? Work Environment Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders/scaffolding, and work in varying weather conditions. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Montebello, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $65000.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
