Job Description

This is a skilled position whose overall duties and responsibilities are to ensure that the following listed duties are efficiently performed.

High school diploma or equivalent GED required. Training in the carpenter trade or cabinet making.--Minimum 5 years related experience in carpenter trade or as a cabinet maker OR 3 years related experience with a vocational training certificate.-- Must be proficient and skilled in the arts of: rough carpentry work, finish carpentry work, cabinet making, and the application of various finishes on furniture, doors, woodwork, etc. Must have attention to detail for assessing project needs and be able to manage time and resources. Ability to properly measure, complete estimations and manage the budget of project needs. Must have good customer service skills and ability to communicate in a professional manner. Ability to identify potential hazards and keep a clear worksite and use caution when using power tools. Perform the following tasks (including repair, replacement, and installation): cabinet making, rough carpentry to include forms and beam construction, door surfaces, mailboxes, screens, broken glass, putty and glaze, ceiling tiles, hanging ceilings, sheetrock and drywall construction, plaster walls, cement finishing, roofs, set ceramic tile, lay floor tile, tape and float drywall construction, repair hardware such as, locks, panic and exit devices, door closures, and hinges, caulk cracks, holes, and separations, and furniture repair and refinishing, texture walls and ceilings, and signs. Perform the required maintenance on the following equipment according to the established traditional procedures and in accordance with the safety procedures and regulations as prescribed by the Occupational Safety and health
Act:
planers, circular saws, electric hammers, grinders, jig saws, sanders, drills (hand and bench) electric hack saw, tilting arbor saw, long bed joiner, radial arm saw, band saw, drill press, truck ½ to 1 ton capacity, ladders and scaffolds, molding machine, and shapers. Reads, understand, interprets and translates technical manuals and architectural/structural drawings. Follow established safety rules and regulations to avoid any unsafe working condition. Any other duties as assigned.
