Job Summary Mr. Handyman of Layton-Bountiful is seeking a highly experienced Handyman / Framing Carpenter to complete residential and light-commercial repair and improvement projects throughout Davis and Weber Counties. The ideal candidate has at least 10 years of professional construction, carpentry, framing, remodeling, or handyman experience and can independently evaluate projects, prepare estimates, present repair options, and complete high-quality work. This is a customer-facing position. The technician must be clean, organized, professional, and skilled at creating an exceptional customer experience. Success in this role includes identifying customer needs, explaining appropriate repair options, and recommending additional services that provide genuine value without using high-pressure sales tactics. Responsibilities Complete framing, carpentry, remodeling, and general handyman projects. Diagnose repair needs and develop practical, long-lasting solutions. Prepare accurate labor and material estimates. Present customers with clear repair options at different price points when appropriate. Identify additional repairs or improvements that would benefit the customer. Professionally sell approved work and increase job value through helpful recommendations. Perform framing repairs, wall construction, door and window work, trim carpentry, drywall, cabinetry, flooring, painting, and general property maintenance. Manage assigned projects independently from initial evaluation through final cleanup. Communicate clearly with customers regarding scope, pricing, timelines, and unexpected conditions. Maintain a clean, organized, and protected work area throughout the project. Take before-and-after photos and enter accurate job notes. Purchase approved materials using a company-provided credit card. Maintain the company vehicle, tools, and equipment in a clean and professional condition. Deliver an exceptional customer-service experience on every appointment. Qualifications and Skills Minimum of 10 years of professional construction, framing, carpentry, remodeling, or handyman experience. Strong residential framing and finish-carpentry skills. Experience estimating labor, materials, and overall project costs. Experience presenting repair options and closing work with customers. Ability to recommend additional services based on legitimate customer needs. Strong customer-service and communication skills. Clean, organized, dependable, and professional in appearance. Ability to independently diagnose problems and determine the proper repair. Broad knowledge of residential repairs and remodeling. Ability to safely operate professional hand and power tools. Ability to accurately measure, plan work, and create material lists. Comfortable using a smartphone for scheduling, photos, estimates, job notes, and customer communication. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Ability to pass a background check. Must own a dependable set of professional hand and power tools. Ability to lift and carry construction materials and work from ladders when required.
