Job Description

The Northwest Construction Cooperative, Olympia's employee-owned general contractor, is looking for skilled, passionate craftspeople to join our team. JOB TITLE
Journey-Level Carpenter
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Journey-Level Carpenter works within NWCC's team as a self-performing job site carpenter completing all phases of deconstruction/demolition, residential carpentry, some framing, siding, windows and doors installation and trim work with little direction provided.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
5 year's experience in residential carpentry High school diploma or equivalent Knowledge of current building codes and regulations Diploma, certificate or degree from a carpentry program or technical school a plus but not required
EXPECTATIONS
(including, but not limited to, the following): The Role of the Journey-Level Carpenter is to be an on-site production carpenter and to help ensure efficient production, effective timelines, client satisfaction and quality control. The expectation is for the great majority of the week to be spent in production while assisting at times in material takeoffs, project planning, and other needed responsibilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the construction of various projects from framing to finish carpentry including new construction, whole home remodels/renovations and additions Communicate with the Project Manager and/or Site Supervisor regarding project schedule and sequencing Perform all carpentry, requesting support as needed Assist with material takeoffs and orders Lead, supervise and instruct all internal labor crews when performing work on-site Be the point of contact for subcontractors on-site Coordinate subcontractor crews, site logistics, and answer questions; directing subcontractor's questions to the Project Manager as needed Maintaining a safe and clean job site, managing the storage of materials and equipment on-site Record time entries accurately Monitor project quality, making corrections, and inform Site Supervisor or Project Manager of needed corrections Construct projects per project plans and documents, monitor and identify constructability issues Monitor and enforce safety requirements
REQUIREMENTS
Have sufficient tools and reliable transportation: Tool List provided upon hiring Have experience reading and building from architectural plans, project documents Have Smart Phone with reliable service Have desire to work with integrated team on custom projects with various clients Be dedicated to professionalism, profitability, client satisfaction, and have a high attention to detail Hard working, good communicator, great attitude Spanish speaking a plus but not required Experience with High Performance building assemblies preferred Lead RRP Certification - plus but not required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Prolonged standing, climbing, bending and kneeling The ability to lift up to 50 lbs at a time Must be able to safely work with sharp tools or power equipment The ability to work in a variety of weather conditions The ability to work safely on ladders and elevated platforms at varying heights Possess manual dexterity, balance and hand-eye coordination
