ESI specializes in Underground Utilities, Milling, Asphalt, Paving, Grading, Concrete, and Earthwork for commercial, municipal, and federal projects.
POSITION SUMMARY
Applicants MUST have 5+ years' experience in estimating with an emphasis on concrete flatwork/site work (curb and gutter, sidewalks, paving, ADA ramps, etc.) Experience with Agtek, Bluebeam, and Heavy Bid is preferred, but not required if applicant has strong estimating background. Knowledge of activities concerned with Heavy Civil Construction projects including aggregate base course, asphalt paving of roadways, commercial parking lots and other surface maintenance activities. Actively participate in the conceptual development of a construction project from start to finish and oversee its organization, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation. ESI performs work for a wide range of entities including Federal, State, Local Municipalities, privately owned and joint venture projects. Applicant must be self-motivated and able to perform numerous aspects including takeoffs, site visits, gathering quotes, working with subcontractors, managing multiple estimates, and coordinating with other ESI departments and personnel for projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents to understand the full scope of concrete work. Perform accurate quantity takeoffs for concrete, reinforcing steel, formwork, finishes, and related materials. Prepare detailed and competitive estimates for concrete projects from conceptual through final bid stages. Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing for materials, equipment, and specialty work. Develop labor and production estimates based on project requirements, site conditions, and company production rates. Review plans for scope gaps, conflicts, and potential risks and identify items that may impact cost or schedule. Prepare bid proposals, bid forms, and supporting documentation in accordance with project requirements. Coordinate with superintendents, and operations to ensure estimates are practical and achievable in the field. Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walks, and owner/GC meetings when required to do so. Track and maintain bid information, including quotes, takeoffs, historical costs, and production data. Review subcontractor and vendor quotes to ensure scope is complete and pricing is accurate. Assist with change-order pricing and cost evaluations when requested by the operations or project management team. Mentor and provide guidance to junior estimators and help establish consistent estimating practices. Maintain strong relationships with general contractors, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients. Support business development and project pursuit efforts by providing accurate budgets and pricing. Ensure estimates are completed accurately and on schedule while meeting company margin and profitability goals.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education:
Civil Engineering or Construction degree preferred but not required.
Experience:
5+ years' experience in concrete estimating, utilizing industry relevant estimating software.
Requirements:
Must be familiar with Microsoft Office, Heavy Bid (HCSS), Agtek takeoff, Bluebeam, saving and input of data.
