Express Concrete & Traffic Control, Inc. is a Georgia-based highway and roadway construction company specializing in concrete repair, traffic control services, and roadway maintenance. We perform construction and repair work exclusively within the State of Georgia, mainly but not exclusively for Georgia Department of Transportation and local government agencies. Position Summary:
The Concrete Superintendent is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all field operations related to concrete construction, repair, and maintenance projects. This position oversees crews performing highway, roadway, sidewalk, curb and gutter, concrete paving, concrete replacement, and related infrastructure work. The Concrete Superintendent ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contract specifications, company standards, and all applicable Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Direct and supervise daily field operations for concrete construction and roadway repair projects. Manage crews, subcontractors, equipment, and materials on assigned projects. Coordinate project activities with Project Managers, inspectors, utility companies, and clients. Review project plans, specifications, schedules, and contract requirements. Ensure all work is performed in compliance with GDOT standards, local regulations, and company policies. Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions when necessary to maintain schedules. Plan and schedule manpower, equipment, and material needs. Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce all company safety policies and OSHA regulations. Perform quality control inspections to ensure workmanship meets project specifications. Maintain accurate daily reports, production records, and project documentation. Coordinate traffic control operations with field crews to ensure safe work zones. Monitor job costs and productivity to maximize efficiency and profitability. Identify and resolve field issues, conflicts, and unforeseen construction challenges. Train, mentor, and evaluate field personnel. Participate in project planning and pre-construction meetings. Ensure proper maintenance and utilization of company equipment and tools. Respond to emergency roadway repair and maintenance needs when required. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Minimum of 7 years of experience in concrete construction, roadway construction, or highway maintenance. Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience managing construction crews. Thorough knowledge of concrete placement, finishing, repair, curing, and quality control procedures. Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and project schedules. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and safe construction practices. Experience using heavy equipment such as an excavator and skid steer Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to haul a 16 ft trailer Ability to travel throughout Georgia and work extended hours as required by project schedules. Knowledge in reporting tools such as Procore, Autodesk Construction clouds, Plangrid, Sitedocs, HeavyJob, Trimble, and Laborchart Proficient with Microsoft tools - excel, word, email, etc. Required Certifications Confined Space Entry GSWCC Level 1-A GDOT Worksite Erosion Control Supervisor OSHA 30 and 10 Laser Operator certification Traffic Control Supervisor certification Flagger certifcation First-Aid and CPR certification Preferred Qualifications Experience working on GDOT projects. OSHA 30-Hour Certification. First Aid/CPR Certification. Experience with roadway concrete paving, curb and gutter, sidewalks, traffic control, and maintenance repair projects. Knowledge of erosion control and environmental compliance requirements. Physical Requirements Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions for long hours. Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, and climb for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to work near active traffic and construction equipment. Ability to travel and work at multiple project locations throughout Georgia. Work Environment This position is performed primarily outdoors on active construction sites involving highway and roadway rehabilitation and maintenance projects. The Concrete Superintendent will frequently work in and around moving traffic, heavy equipment, and other construction-related hazards while ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and company standards.
