Concrete Dispatcher / Resource Coordinator

Entry-Level JobVerifiedNo experience needed

Job Description

Site-Mix Concrete is looking for a highly organized, confident, and customer-focused Dispatcher / Customer Service Coordinator to help manage the daily movement of our volumetric concrete trucks and communicate with contractors throughout Central Ohio. This is a key position within our company. You will be the central point of communication between our customers, drivers, yard, and management team. Our business moves quickly, and the person in this role needs to be able to manage multiple moving pieces, make good decisions, and keep everyone informed. Unlike traditional ready-mix concrete, Site-Mix uses volumetric concrete trucks that produce fresh concrete directly on the jobsite . That gives our customers tremendous flexibility—but it also requires a dispatcher who understands scheduling, logistics, customer service, and the importance of keeping trucks productive. What You'll Do The Dispatcher will be responsible for coordinating the daily concrete schedule from the time an order is received until the truck completes the job.
Responsibilities include:
Answer incoming customer calls and assist contractors with concrete orders. Schedule concrete deliveries and build the daily truck schedule. Dispatch drivers and communicate job information clearly. Coordinate delivery times, jobsite locations, concrete quantities, mix designs, and special requirements. Confirm orders with customers and communicate schedule changes. Monitor trucks throughout the day and adjust the schedule as jobs change. Work with drivers to understand job progress and estimated completion times. Communicate delays caused by traffic, weather, jobsite conditions, or previous pours. Keep customers informed rather than leaving them wondering where their concrete is. Look ahead throughout the day and proactively solve scheduling conflicts. Coordinate with the yard to make sure trucks are loaded, supplied, and ready for upcoming work. Maintain accurate customer and job information in our scheduling and ordering systems. Help identify opportunities to combine routes and improve truck utilization. Assist with customer questions regarding ordering procedures, service areas, timing, and basic concrete products. Review the following day's schedule to make sure orders are complete and properly planned. Work closely with management to continually improve dispatching and operational efficiency. This Position Requires More Than Answering Phones A successful dispatcher needs to be able to look at an entire day's schedule and understand how one change affects everything behind it. Construction does not always go according to plan. A contractor may not be ready when we arrive. A pour may take longer than expected. Weather may develop. Traffic may delay a truck. A customer may suddenly need another yard of concrete. The right person does not panic when the schedule changes. They reorganize it, communicate with everyone involved, and keep the day moving. The Right Person Will Be Extremely organized. Comfortable managing multiple tasks at the same time. Confident speaking with contractors and construction professionals. Friendly and professional on the phone. Comfortable making decisions. Able to communicate clearly and directly. Dependable and punctual. Detail-oriented. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Able to think several steps ahead. Comfortable using computers, scheduling software, email, maps, and GPS. Willing to learn concrete terminology, mix designs, and construction logistics. Experience Previous experience in any of the following is helpful: Ready-mix or volumetric concrete dispatch Trucking dispatch Construction dispatch Aggregate or material delivery Excavation Construction supply Logistics Fleet coordination Customer service within the construction industry Concrete experience is preferred but not required. We can teach concrete. We are looking for someone who already possesses the organization, communication skills, work ethic, and ability to manage a busy schedule. About Site-Mix Concrete Site-Mix Concrete is a Columbus-based volumetric concrete producer serving contractors and construction projects throughout Central Ohio. Our trucks manufacture concrete fresh at the jobsite rather than transporting a pre-mixed load from a traditional batch plant. Customers receive exactly what they need, concrete is metered as it is produced, and unused material remains on the truck rather than becoming waste. We produce a wide variety of concrete products, including: 3,000-6,000 PSI concrete Residential and commercial mixes Fiber-reinforced concrete Flowable fill / CDF Pump mixes Block fill and grout High-early-strength mixes Specialty admixtures and integral colors We are growing and looking for someone who wants to become an important part of that growth. Schedule Full-Time - Monday through Friday Our normal operating hours are approximately 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. , although construction schedules can occasionally require earlier starts or later finishes. Compensation Competitive compensation based on experience and ability. Experience within concrete, construction dispatch, trucking, or logistics will be considered when determining starting compensation. What We're Looking For We are not simply looking for someone to fill a chair and answer the phone. We are looking for someone who wants to own the schedule . Someone who takes pride in knowing where the trucks are, where they are going next, what the customer needs, and what needs to happen to keep the operation moving. If you enjoy organizing chaos, solving problems, working with contractors, and being at the center of a fast-moving operation, we would like to talk with you.
