  • Commercial Construction Position Overview Lead and oversee field operations for multiple commercial construction projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on schedule, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.
The General Superintendent will coordinate subcontractors and craft teams, enforce site safety and quality control procedures, interpret construction documents (with emphasis on concrete work), and act as the on-site representative for the company and clients. Ideal candidates will have extensive commercial construction and superintendent experience and a strong background in carpentry, concrete and general construction practices, as we self-perform the carpentry and concrete work . Key Responsibilities Direct and supervise all on-site construction activities across assigned commercial projects, ensuring alignment with project schedules and budgets. Implement and enforce jobsite safety programs and OSHA-compliant practices; lead daily safety briefings and ensure corrective actions are taken promptly. Coordinate, schedule, and manage subcontractors, vendors, and craft labor to optimize productivity and maintain project milestones. Read, interpret, and enforce contract documents, drawings, specifications, and submittals; resolve field conflicts and communicate changes to project management. Oversee quality control and quality assurance processes, conduct inspections, and ensure concrete pours and structural work meet design and tolerance standards. Develop and maintain daily/weekly progress reports, track manpower and equipment usage, and communicate status updates to Project Managers and stakeholders. Plan and sequence trades to minimize rework and downtime; identify and mitigate potential schedule risks early. Mentor and lead field crews and subordinate superintendents; promote a collaborative, solution-oriented culture on site. Manage site logistics, laydown areas, temporary facilities, and ensure protection of existing structures and finishes. Facilitate client, architect, and inspector walkthroughs; promptly address punch list items and closeout documentation. Qualifications 10+ years of commercial construction experience with progressive field leadership; minimum 5 years as a Superintendent or General Superintendent preferred. Proven experience with carpentry and concrete construction (formwork, rebar, placement, finishing) and structural systems. Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, project scheduling, and cost control. Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and construction documents; experience resolving RFIs and field changes. Demonstrated commitment to safety with OSHA 30-hour card or equivalent preferred; first aid/CPR training a plus. Proficient with construction management software (Procore, Viewpoint, or similar) and Microsoft Office suite. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to manage subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams. Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work under pressure, and make timely field decisions. Valid drivers license and willingness to travel between job sites as required. Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
