The nature of the work will require that the candidate demonstrate initiative and responsibility and be flexible/adaptive to a fast-paced and fluid plant environment. The primary responsibility of this position is to batch concrete to meet production demands; ensure quality control and environmental compliance; and assist on the plant yard when needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintains the highest standard of quality and safety in all areas of production from manufacturing to shipment
• Performs the concrete batching operation
• Assists the plant manager in maintaining proper stock inventories (raw materials, machinery/vehicle parts, etc.)
• Assists in performing required plant environmental inspections and documenting properly
• Performs air checks and moisture checks
• Assists in maintaining a clean working area
• Must be able to open, close, and work Saturdays alone
• Must be able to run front end loader and pump tankers, when needed
• Required to work a schedule that varies from week to week; long hours during peak season; and weekends
• May be required to work at more than one location

QUALIFICATIONS

• Two years related experience and/or training
• A working knowledge of the programming functions of all current plant systems
• An understanding of all aspects of concrete production and the types of products produced
• An understanding of QC/QA for the ready mix concrete industry
• Must possess a DOT batch card or the ability to obtain one
• Knowledge of production equipment, production processes and maintenance programs
• A commitment to team concepts, a sense of ownership and urgency
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal professionally with all managers, employees, vendors and customers
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Working computer skills
