Plant Utility Specialist /
Concrete Batch Operator Location:
Ridgeland, SC Position Summary We are seeking a reliable and motivated Plant Utility Specialist / Concrete Batch Operator to join our Columbia Plant team. This position is responsible for batching concrete to meet production demands, maintaining quality and environmental standards, and assisting with overall plant and yard operations. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, adaptable, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Operate the concrete batching system to meet production and quality requirements Maintain high standards of safety, quality control, and environmental compliance Perform air and moisture checks Assist with inventory management of raw materials and equipment Conduct and document required environmental inspections Maintain cleanliness of the plant, yard, and aggregate stockpile areas Maintain cement, fly ash, and slag silos Perform scheduled maintenance on plant equipment Operate front-end loader and pump tankers as needed Communicate plant needs and issues with the Plant Manager Open, close, and operate the plant independently, including Saturdays Work varying schedules, long hours during peak season, weekends, and multiple locations as required Qualifications High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience/training) Knowledge of concrete production processes and QC/QA standards Familiarity with plant systems and production equipment DOT batch card or ability to obtain one Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills Basic computer proficiency Team-oriented with a strong sense of responsibility and urgencyJob Type:
