This position is responsible for safely operating concrete cutting, coring, and demolition equipment on commercial construction projects throughout Central Texas. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, takes pride in their work, communicates well, and can work independently when needed. Our work includes commercial remodels, tenant improvements, structural modifications, slab removals, penetrations, trenching, and specialty concrete cutting. Projects may require daytime, nighttime, weekend, or out-of-town work depending on customer schedules. Primary Responsibilities Operate walk-behind and handheld concrete saws. Perform core drilling of various diameters and depths. Operate wall saws and related electric cutting equipment when qualified. Perform slab and structural concrete cutting. Set up, anchor, and safely operate concrete cutting and coring equipment. Verify dimensions and work locations before cutting or drilling. Assist with concrete demolition and removal. Operate demolition equipment, breakers, and other specialty tools. Maintain proper slurry, water, and debris containment. Protect surrounding finished surfaces and occupied areas. Load, unload, secure, and transport equipment and materials. Inspect and maintain saws, core drills, blades, bits, hoses, cords, and other equipment. Identify equipment problems and communicate necessary repairs. Maintain an organized and clean company truck and work area. Complete daily paperwork, timecards, and job documentation as required. Communicate professionally with DSC supervisors, general contractors, superintendents, and other trades. Follow DSC safety procedures and all applicable jobsite safety requirements. Participate in daily safety meetings, JHAs, and pre-task planning. Assist other DSC crews and perform additional concrete or demolition work as needed.
Qualifications Preferred:
Previous concrete cutting and coring experience. Experience operating flat saws, core drills, hand saws, ring saws, and wall saws. Experience working on commercial construction sites. Ability to read basic construction plans and understand measurements and layout. Mechanical knowledge and ability to troubleshoot equipment. Experience operating forklifts, skid steers, mini excavators, scissor lifts, or telehandlers is a plus.
Required:
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Reliable transportation. Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic construction math. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to work independently and as part of a crew. Willingness to work nights, weekends, overtime, and occasional out-of-town projects when required. Dependable attendance and ability to report to work on time. Ability to pass any project-specific safety or site requirements. Physical Requirements This is a physically demanding construction position.
Employees must be able to:
Regularly lift and carry approximately 50-75 lbs. Push, pull, position, and operate heavy concrete cutting equipment. Work while standing, kneeling, bending, climbing, and crouching for extended periods. Work indoors and outdoors in hot, cold, wet, dusty, and noisy environments. Safely work from ladders, scaffolds, and aerial lifts when required. Wear required PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, safety-toe boots, and respiratory protection when applicable. Pay:
