  • 170K base (salary depends on experience) Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Concrete Superintendent to lead concrete operations on heavy civil projects including highways, bridges, and large site developments.
The Concrete Superintendent will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all cast-in-place and mass concrete activities, ensuring quality, schedule adherence, safety and DOT compliance across multiple work fronts. The role requires strong technical knowledge of concrete placing, formwork, reinforcement, curing and finishing, and the ability to manage crews, subcontractors and materials on complex heavy civil and ground-up projects. Key Responsibilities Direct and supervise day-to-day concrete operations for heavy civil projects (bridges, highways, roadways, slabs, site concrete, mass concrete pours, distribution centers and ground-up construction). Plan, schedule and sequence concrete activities, coordinating with project management, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers and traffic control to maintain progress and minimize delays. Oversee formwork, rebar placement, embedded items, jointing, consolidation, finishing, curing and protection to meet project specifications and industry best practices. Manage large-scale pours including mass concrete and bridge deck pours; coordinate concrete delivery, pumping, placement rates and sequencing to ensure continuous operation and quality control. Ensure compliance with DOT specifications, project plans, structural and civil drawings, quality assurance/quality control procedures and testing requirements (slump, cylinders, air content, compressive strength). Qualifications Minimum 3+ years of progressive concrete field experience with at least 3+ years in a superintendent role on heavy civil or heavy highway projects. Demonstrated experience and expertise as a Concrete Superintendent and in Heavy Civil construction (bridges, highways, roadway slabs, earthwork and excavation). Proven track record working on DOT projects and familiarity with DOT specifications, permitting, and inspection processes. Strong knowledge of cast-in-place concrete, mass concrete pours, slab on grade, structural concrete, bridge decks, reinforcement detailing, formwork systems, and curing methods. Experience with grading, paving, tilt-up, distribution center ground-up construction, and coordinating multi-trade operations is preferred.
