Job Description

As a Concrete Finisher II in Public Works, Streets & Bridges division, you will serve as a lead worker in preparation for construction, maintenance, and repair of concrete projects. Two (2) years of full-time equivalent experience in concrete construction, maintenance, and repair work, to include reading and interpreting engineering plans for curb and gutter, sidewalks, and roadways, and planning curb and gutter layout from information from survey grade stakes and cut sheets or closely related experience. This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City's current substance abuse policy. Must possess a valid driver's license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driver's record based on the City of Hampton's criteria. Must possess a State of Virginia Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B or must obtain the CDL Class B within 180 days of employment. Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion Additional Requirements The incumbent may be considered "essential personnel" during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
