Job Description

Bear General Contractors is seeking an experienced Civil Foreman with hands-on pipe-laying experience to lead crews on civil, sitework, earthwork, and underground utility projects. This is a working foreman position requiring strong leadership, safety awareness, and knowledge of underground pipe installation. Responsibilities Lead crews performing excavation, grading, stormwater work, underground utilities, backfill, and compaction. Perform and oversee pipe installation, including trench preparation, bedding, line and grade, structures, fittings, connections, and backfill. Plan daily work and coordinate labor, equipment, materials, inspections, and testing. Read civil plans, profiles, elevations, and specifications. Enforce PPE, trench safety, utility-locate procedures, and safe equipment operation. Track daily production and maintain accurate field documentation. Ensure work meets project requirements for safety, quality, schedule, and scope. Qualifications Civil, utility, or sitework foreman experience. Hands-on pipe-layer experience is required. Experience with storm drainage, sanitary sewer, water mains, services, and related underground utilities. Knowledge of excavation, trenching, bedding, backfill, compaction, and utility protection. Ability to establish and maintain line and grade. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to work outdoors and perform the physical duties of the position. OSHA and excavation Competent Person training are preferred.
