Job Description
Job Summary Heglar Creek Electric is seeking a skilled and dependable Lead Low Voltage Technician to join our team in Southern Idaho. This position is responsible for leading the installation, service, and troubleshooting of low voltage systems in commercial, industrial, agricultural, and residential settings. The ideal candidate is experienced in low voltage work, takes pride in quality workmanship, and can lead projects and team members with professionalism and efficiency. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys hands-on work, solving technical problems, and helping ensure projects are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule. Key Responsibilities Lead installation, maintenance, and repair of low voltage systems Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and project plans Oversee and participate in installation of systems such as: Data and network cabling Security and surveillance systems Access control systems Fire alarm systems (Potter preferred but not required) Audio/visual systems Communication and other specialty low voltage systems Troubleshoot system issues and perform testing to ensure proper functionality Coordinate with project managers, electricians, customers, and other team members to keep projects moving efficiently Supervise and mentor technicians and helpers on assigned jobs Ensure projects are completed according to company standards, code requirements, and customer expectations Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, materials used, and project progress Promote a safe, organized, and professional work environment on every jobsite Qualifications Previous experience in low voltage installation and service required Manage cabling projects utilizing Cat5, Cat6 cables, and power tools to ensure compliance with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards. Leadership or foreman-level experience preferred Strong working knowledge of low voltage systems and industry best practices Ability to read plans, schematics, and technical documents Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Ability to lead a crew, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively Strong communication and customer service skills Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required Ability to work independently and as part of a team Preferred Qualifications Experience with structured cabling, access control, surveillance, fire alarm, or related systems Manufacturer certifications or low voltage industry certifications Experience leading jobs from start to finish Knowledge of applicable safety standards and code requirements Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, and move materials and equipment Ability to work on ladders, in ceilings, in crawl spaces, and in various indoor and outdoor conditions Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform physical work throughout the day
