Home Improvement Contractor Michiana Veterans Home Services South Bend, IN Job Details Full-time $23 - $27 an hour 9 hours ago Qualifications Fabrication Construction management software Loader operation Frame carpentry Roofing Full Job Description Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Home Improvement Contractor to lead and execute a wide range of residential renovation and remodeling projects. In this role, you will oversee all aspects of home improvement jobs, from initial planning and blueprint reading to final inspections and client satisfaction. Your expertise will ensure projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards of quality. This position offers an exciting opportunity to bring homeowners' visions to life through expert craftsmanship and innovative solutions. Responsibilities Manage and coordinate multiple home improvement projects, including remodeling, renovation, and restoration work. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to plan project workflows. Perform or supervise construction tasks such as drywall installation, flooring, tile laying, carpentry, roofing, masonry, stucco, plastering, and concrete finishing. Operate power tools and heavy equipment safely and efficiently to complete various construction tasks. Conduct construction inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and project specifications. Oversee electrical work, plumbing installations, fixture mounting, and electrical schematics interpretation as needed. Coordinate with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of materials like cabinetry, glass fixtures, doors, windows, and other building components. Maintain detailed project documentation including estimates using construction estimating techniques and Bluebeam software for digital plan management. Ensure quality control through thorough site inspections and adherence to construction best practices. Manage project timelines and budgets while maintaining a safe work environment on all construction sites. Experience Proven experience in construction management with a focus on residential projects or home renovations. Strong background in carpentry disciplines such as trim carpentry, frame carpentry, door hanging, cabinet installation, and drywall finishing. Hands-on experience with flooring installation (hardwood, tile), roofing systems, masonry work, stucco application, plastering techniques, concrete forming & finishing. Familiarity with blueprint reading and schematics interpretation for diverse construction tasks. Knowledge of electrical systems including wiring basics and fixture installation; experience with electrical schematics is a plus. Skilled in plumbing installation and repair; ability to handle fixture mounting and pipework effectively. Experience operating power tools (saws, drills), heavy equipment (excavators or loaders), and fabrication tools for custom projects. Ability to perform or supervise drywall installation & finishing as well as painting & caulking for aesthetic quality. Knowledge of restoration techniques for older homes or damaged structures; experience with hardscape design is advantageous.
