OPPORTUNITY

Gradex, Inc., a leading heavy civil construction company based in Indiana, is seeking a skilled and reliable Earthwork Foreman to join our field team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced leader who can oversee earthwork crews and is passionate about getting the job done right. As Earthwork Foreman, you will lead daily site grading, excavation, embankment, and cut/fill operations while ensuring crew safety, productivity, and quality. You'll be expected to manage materials, verify grades, and work closely with our project leadership team to meet critical project deadlines. This field leadership role is essential to keeping our projects running smoothly — and our crews working efficiently. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Supervise and lead daily operations of earthwork crews on heavy civil construction projects. Interpret and execute construction plans, blueprints, grade stakes, and site layout information. Shoot and check grades using GPS, lasers, and levels with high accuracy. Coordinate site excavation, grading, embankment, and cut/fill activities to meet project specifications. Work closely with surveyors, Project Managers, Superintendents, and other crews to maintain production and schedule. Order and coordinate timely delivery of materials needed for earthwork operations. Monitor site conditions and adjust operations as needed to maintain safety, efficiency, and quality. Enforce safety and quality standards in compliance with Gradex policies and industry regulations. Monitor productivity and provide coaching and leadership to crew members. Maintain field documentation for labor, equipment, and materials.

SUCCESS FACTORS

5+ years of earthwork experience, with 2+ years in a foreman or leadership role. Demonstrated experience in reading blueprints, grade sheets, and site plans. Skilled in checking grade, understanding cut/fill requirements, and operating basic layout equipment. Experience coordinating excavation, rough grading, finish grading, and mass earthmoving activities. Capable of ordering materials and handling basic field logistics. Clean driving record. Strong work ethic, dependability, and problem-solving ability. Able to lead by example with a safety-first mindset. Experience working on INDOT or municipal projects is a plus.
