Job Description
The Town of Raynham Highway Department is seeking candidates for the position of Parks and Grounds Working Foreman . Under the direction of the Highway Superintendent and General Foreman, this position will provide leadership and direction to other town employees for the purpose of routine maintenance, repair and construction, weather and other emergency conditions and all other related activities for the Town of Raynham. Duties will include but not be limited to the following: scheduling of maintenance of equipment and work assignments, ordering of materials, implementation of policies and directives for the Department, coordinate and manage activities with private contractors, perform skilled landscaping and other labor duties and operate light and heavy motorized and hydraulic equipment/mowers at an advanced level in support of Highway Department and all divisions within the Department the Maintenance of Public Ways, Parks and Grounds and Solid Waste areas. This position will require the participation in the Snow and Ice and On-Call Programs as a condition of employment. Union step wage range $30.12-$31.22 per hour depending on licenses obtained. Normal work period is 40 hours per week from Monday through Friday with scheduled and emergency overtime as needed.
Specific Skills:
- Perform advance levels of personnel management, operate departmental equipment such as, but not limited to, mowers, verbal and written communication and hand laboring skills within the Highway Department.
- Equipment skills to include but not be limited to advanced operational skills with regards to operation of trucks up to 80,000 GVW with or without trailer; operation of power tools such as chain and brush saws; spraying equipment, mowers, front end loaders, backhoe, excavator, street sweepers, catch basin cleaning equipment, heavy and light dump trucks, skid steer loaders, fork lifts, and rollers.
- Act as working lead person on work crews.
- Prepare routine records, logs and reports.
- Provide verbal and written daily planning and scheduling of work crews and work assignments in coordination with the General Foreman or in his absence the Highway Superintendent
- Respond to routine inquiries, requests and complaints from residents, contractors, etc.
- Assist outside contractors engaged in construction and repair activities.
- Assist other Town departments with repairs or other projects as required.
- Operate snow emergency equipment.
- Conduct and train others in the safe operation of power tools and heavy equipment and mowing equipment.
- Maintain work area in a clean, safe and operable condition and adhere to applicable safety and health rules and regulations.
- Endeavor to continuously improve services provided to taxpayers.
