Job Description
Position Overview We are helping our client fill this role. They are looking for an experienced Working Trim Carpenter Foreman to lead and work alongside a crew on new-construction multifamily projects in the Grand Rapids area . This is a hands-on leadership position. The ideal candidate is an experienced trim carpenter who can perform high-quality finish work while directing a crew of 3-5 carpenters, keeping production on schedule, coordinating with other trades, and ensuring work is completed the first time correctly. Our client are looking for someone who takes ownership of the project—not simply someone who can install trim. Key Responsibilities Lead and work alongside a crew of 3-5 trim carpenters. Install interior doors, cabinets, base, casing, window trim, stairs, and other finish carpentry items. Install hollow metal frames, doors, hardware, and bath accessories. Read and interpret construction plans and specifications. Lay out apartments and work areas efficiently. Organize daily manpower and assign work to crew members. Achieve production goals and keep projects on schedule. Maintain high-quality workmanship and enforce company standards. Identify and correct installation issues before they become larger problems. Coordinate work with general contractors, superintendents, and other trades. Communicate material needs, shortages, and jobsite issues to management. Help coordinate material deliveries and maintain an organized jobsite. Perform punch-list work and ensure units are completed to a high standard. Train and develop less-experienced carpenters. Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment. Represent the company professionally when working with customers, builders, and other contractors. What We're Looking For 5+ years of multifamily trim carpentry experience preferred. Previous experience leading a crew or working as a Trim Carpenter Foreman is strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of interior doors, cabinets, base, casing, and finish trim. Ability to read construction plans and understand project layouts. Ability to accurately measure, lay out, and troubleshoot finish carpentry work. Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship. Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field. Strong communication and organizational skills. Dependable transportation and the ability to travel between jobsites. Valid driver's license. Ability to work productively with a small crew while continuing to perform hands-on carpentry.
