We are looking for an experienced excavation operator and working foreman who can handle jobs with minimal supervision. This is not an entry-level position. The right person should be comfortable operating heavy equipment, setting grade, solving drainage problems, leading a small crew, and helping plan and estimate jobs. The schedule will vary based on workload and weather. There is no set schedule or guaranteed number of hours. This could become a full-time position if the workload increases and the candidate proves to be dependable and capable. Responsibilities Operate excavators, skid steers, loaders, and other heavy equipment Install and repair drainage systems Install, grade, refresh, and repair gravel driveways Excavate foundations, footers, building pads, trenches, and ditches Perform rough grading, finish grading, backfilling, and site preparation Set and verify proper grade, slope, and drainage Help evaluate jobs and estimate labor, equipment, and materials Schedule and direct a small crew when needed Coordinate materials, equipment, and deliveries Communicate professionally with customers Inspect equipment and report maintenance or repair needs Keep accurate records and turn in receipts Complete jobs safely, efficiently, and with minimal supervision All bids, pricing, major purchases, job changes, and customer commitments must receive final approval from the owner unless additional authority has been given. Requirements Significant excavation and heavy-equipment experience Strong knowledge of drainage, grading, and driveway construction Experience digging foundations, footers, pads, and trenches Ability to set grade accurately Ability to work independently and solve problems in the field Experience leading workers and scheduling jobs Estimating or bidding experience Valid driver's license and a driving record acceptable to company insurance Ability to safely tow, load, and secure equipment Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening Dependable, honest, and respectful of company and customer property A CDL, mechanical ability, and experience reading plans are preferred but not necessarily required. What We Provide Company truck Trailers and heavy equipment Fuel and approved job expenses Tools and materials needed for assigned work The employee will report to the equipment location, gather and inspect what is needed, complete the assigned job, return the truck and equipment, and turn in any receipts and required job information. Pay and Schedule Pay is $25 to $45 per hour , based on the candidate's experience, qualifications, and demonstrated ability. The top of the range is reserved for someone who can operate equipment, set grade, manage jobs, lead a crew, assist with estimating, and complete quality work without constant supervision. This is a part-time, as-needed position with a variable schedule of 0 to 28 hours per week . Hours are not guaranteed and will depend on available work, weather, and project schedules.
