Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a motivated, experienced, and dependable Lead Technician / Crew Chief to lead fence installation projects from start to finish. This position is responsible for supervising a field crew, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards while providing exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, extensive fence installation experience, and takes pride in delivering craftsmanship that exceeds customer expectations. The Lead Technician / Crew Chief will oversee daily job site operations, maintain productivity, train crew members, communicate with customers, and ensure every project meets company standards for quality, safety, and professionalism. Duties Lead and supervise fence installation crews on residential and commercial projects from start to finish. Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company quality standards. Read project plans, verify measurements, and coordinate daily job site activities to ensure projects stay on schedule. Install a variety of fencing systems including wood, vinyl, chain-link, ornamental iron, aluminum, and custom gates. Operate company vehicles, trailers, skid steers, augers, concrete mixers, power tools, hand tools, and other equipment safely. Train, mentor, and develop crew members in proper installation techniques, safety procedures, and company expectations. Ensure all team members properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow OSHA and company safety guidelines. Perform site layout, post placement, grading adjustments, gate installation, and final quality inspections. Communicate professionally with customers throughout the project, providing updates and addressing questions or concerns. Identify and resolve job site challenges while maintaining productivity and workmanship standards. Verify materials, manage inventory on-site, and ensure equipment is maintained and returned in good working condition. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional job site before, during, and after each installation. Experience Minimum of 3 years of professional fence installation experience preferred. Previous experience leading or supervising installation crews is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of wood, vinyl, chain-link, ornamental steel, aluminum, and custom fence installation methods. Experience reading site plans, measuring layouts, and ensuring accurate fence placement. Proficient with power tools, hand tools, augers, skid steers, concrete equipment, and other construction tools. Strong understanding of construction safety practices and OSHA guidelines. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to lift 75+ pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record preferred. Reliable, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and committed to producing high-quality craftsmanship.
