Utility Foreman Location:
Columbia, SC Job Type:
Full-Time We are seeking an experienced Utility Foreman to lead and direct crews on heavy civil and utility construction projects. The ideal candidate should have strong experience with underground utilities, site work, heavy equipment, and crew supervision. Responsibilities Lead and supervise daily utility construction activities and crews. Read and interpret engineered plans and perform field layout/staking. Oversee installation of storm drainage, water lines, sewer lines, manholes, lift stations, and related utilities . Operate and oversee heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, loaders, compactors, and other construction equipment . Set up and use GPS base stations and GPS-guided equipment . Conduct JSA, toolbox talks, workplace inspections, and safety training. Monitor production, address job-site issues, and maintain project schedules. Complete daily production, fuel, equipment-hour, and workplace inspection records. Perform basic equipment maintenance and minor emergency repairs as needed. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site. Ensure compliance with
OSHA/MSHA
regulations and company safety standards . Qualifications Previous experience as a Utility Foreman or Lead Utility Construction professional . Strong knowledge of storm drainage, water, and sewer utility installation . Ability to read plans, perform layout, and understand site preparation. Experience operating multiple types of heavy equipment. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Valid driver's license with fewer than 3 moving violations in the past 3 years. Must be able to pass a drug/alcohol screening. Ability to lift at least 40 lbs. Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
