Job Description
The Underground Utility Foreman is responsible for overseeing digging, drilling, and all other ground related installations in the communications space. They serve as the go-to subject matter experts for decisions on active jobs sites. Their goal is to be hands-on when needed, fostering a safe, positive, and can-do culture that aligns with commitments to quality and timely project completion for the customer. They may train, mentor, correct, and make suggestions to improve performance, focusing on jobsites that require the most direct oversight, such as emergency restoration services. General safety knowledge and awareness of OSHA guidelines pertaining to telecommunications 1910.268. An ability to exercise mature judgment and suggest the appropriate action when working with employees, management, or customers. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Pass a background check, drug test, DOT physical, and provide a qualified RMV driving record. 3-5 years of utility/telecommunications experience (preferred). 3 years of supervisory experience (preferred) Valid CDL-A (Required) Coastal Fiber is a Telecom construction company in Ashland, VA. We build, design, and repair fiber optic networks for our customers. The photos, videos, bank transactions, and other systems operating on your phone, tablet, or laptop computer need this specialized infrastructure to function. With over 25 years of Telecom experience, the company employs over 200 people in the Eastern US. Most of our crew members return home at the end of each day. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards: Operating and maintaining Directional Drill, Excavators, and any other heavy equipment on the jobsite Leading by example, reporting progress, addressing safety issues, setting the expectation with production as requested by the customer Capability to train crew(s) on all aspects of proper excavation, drilling and any other heavy equipment operations in while adhering to safe work practices Drive, load/unload equipment and perform manual labor as required What we offer Your benefits will include a competitive compensation plan and paid time off benefit.
