Employees of this class follow procedures in the performance of semi-skilled to skilled labor connected with various water system construction and maintenance activities. Work involves a variety of tasks. Simpler tasks may be performed with considerable independence, while more complex tasks are performed under a direct supervisor or skilled worker. Work is subject to inspection by supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain a safe working environment, lay pipe, repair water mains, service lines, meters. Service, clean and maintain vehicles, tools and equipment. Maintain Water Department lawns and landscape. Perform other duties as assigned. Employee will be responsible to pull call and after hours repairs as needed. Must be capable of lifting 50 lbs. Must be able to work under minimum supervision and maintain efficiency and accuracy in job performance. Ability to understand and follow simple written and oral instructions. Must be able to accurately read water meters. Must hold a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License and a Grade I Water Certification (or MUST obtain within one year of employment), and be insurable by the Water Authority insurance underwriters, with a clean driving record. Drug test will be given. Work Schedule will be 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.-Monday through Friday. (After hours and weekend call hours will be required). Salary based on experience.
