: Under direct supervision, performs tasks requiring unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor involving repair and maintenance tasks to fulfill departmental needs; performs other related duties as assigned.As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. : (Illustrative Only) Performs a wide range of tasks requiring manual labor which may include ground maintenance, custodial, building maintenance, highway maintenance, solid waste operations, fleet maintenance or other designated areas as assigned. This may include the operation of power, mechanical and hand tools or equipment depending on assignment. Six months of experience performing manual labor in a construction, grounds maintenance or public works environment; must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license and the ability to be covered by county insurance. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered.Some knowledge of:
- the methods, practices, tools and materials used in a variety of trades;
- the operation of a variety of equipment used in various unskilled or semi-skilled manual labor.
Working knowledge of:
- occupational hazards and required preventative and safety measures.
Ability to:
- perform manual labor;
- establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public;
- read, write and speak English;
- follow written and verbal instruction and communicate effectively.
