Phoenix Metro, Arizona Full-Time Pay:
$20-$23 per hour, depending on experience About True Hop Field Co. True Hop Field Co. is a growing Arizona sports field construction company specializing in the construction, renovation, and maintenance of baseball and softball fields, athletic facilities, synthetic turf systems, natural playing surfaces, grading, drainage, concrete, excavation, and related site work. We are currently looking for an experienced construction laborer / field technician who wants more than another labor job. This is a hands-on field position with an opportunity to learn multiple aspects of sports field construction while working directly with experienced company leadership. As our company continues to grow, we want to develop high-performing employees into future Lead Technicians, Crew Leads, Foremen, Superintendents, and Project Managers. For the right individual, this position can become the beginning of a long-term career with True Hop Field Co. What You'll Do Responsibilities will vary by project and may include: General construction and site-work activities Baseball and softball field construction and renovation Excavation and material removal Fine grading and preparation of athletic playing surfaces Installation and renovation of natural and synthetic turf Infield material installation, grading, and conditioning Drainage installation Concrete demolition and preparation Base preparation and compaction Loading, unloading, and movement of construction materials Use of hand tools, power tools, compactors, lasers, and construction equipment Assisting equipment operators and crew leads Jobsite setup, cleanup, and organization Equipment and tool inspection and basic maintenance Working alongside subcontractors and specialty trade partners Communicating potential field issues to project leadership before they become larger problems This is a hands-on construction position. Every member of our field team is expected to contribute wherever needed to safely and efficiently complete the project.
Minimum Qualifications Candidates should have:
Previous construction, excavation, landscape construction, concrete, grading, underground, civil, or similar field experience Strong work ethic and willingness to perform physical construction work Reliable attendance and punctuality Ability to work outdoors in Arizona conditions Ability to safely lift, carry, shovel, rake, compact, and perform other physical field activities Ability to follow instructions and construction safety requirements Reliable transportation to the designated reporting location or project site Valid driver's license Ability to work effectively as part of a crew Preferred Experience Experience in any of the following is strongly preferred but not required: Skid steers Mini excavators Compact track loaders Wheel loaders Tractors Laser levels or grade-control equipment Fine grading Drainage Irrigation Synthetic turf installation Natural turf or sports field construction Baseball or softball field maintenance Concrete Excavation Reading plans, elevations, or construction drawings Trailer towing or equipment transportation OSHA 10 or other safety training Bilingual English/Spanish is strongly preferred because this position will regularly work alongside Spanish-speaking crew members, subcontractors, and trade partners. Field Technician → Senior Field Technician / Equipment Operator → Crew Lead / Foreman → Superintendent / Project Manager Advancement is not based solely on time with the company. Employees who demonstrate strong technical ability, reliability, leadership, problem-solving, organization, and communication may be considered for accelerated advancement as the company grows. Compensation will be evaluated based on factors including: Relevant construction experience Equipment capabilities Grading and laser experience Sports field experience Leadership experience Bilingual English/Spanish capability Ability to assume additional responsibility High-performing employees will have opportunities for increased responsibility and compensation as their capabilities develop. Schedule This is a full-time field position. Construction schedules may vary depending on project requirements, weather, customer deadlines, and location.
