Job Summary:
As a Heavy Civil Equipment Operator/ Laborer on our team, you will be part of a small crew and operate various types of equipment from: excavators, skid loaders, loaders, rollers, motor graders (GPS and Non-GPS), and dozers (GPS and Non-GPS). You will use this equipment to complete various task such as: Site utilities/pipe laying, Site development/fine grading, and some demolition. Depending on the tasks needed and the work load, you will assist varying labor tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Show up on Time and Properly complete required daily paperwork Basic Math Skills Read Plan Sets and Grade Hubs/offsets Align and position pipes to prepare them for installation. Setup and use instruments such as levels, lasers, and grade rods. Grade and level trench bases Accurately complete time cards. Operate a variety of hand and power tools and equipment, motor vehicles, and heavy equipment and perform related duties. Maintain orderliness, cleanliness, and safety in equipment and on the job site. Work closely with laborers/ pipe layers using hand signals, making sure others know your movements. Assist laborers/ pipe layers in duties to keep progress moving smoothly Understand and use GPS grade controls Be able to communicate job needs and progress with superiors. Operate and perform tasks in compliance with OSHA standards
Skills and Abilities:
Be able to read and understand Plan sets Proper Equipment safety startup/ walkaround Communicate Maintenance items on equipment Communicate and identify hazards and appropriately correct them Use a wide variety of hand and power tools and heavy equipment. Understand and adhere to trench safety regulations and OSHA standards. Understand and adhere to the Personal Protection Equipment requirements.
Qualifications:
OSHA Certification Confined Space Certification Competent Person/ Excavation Certification Work Environment/Physical Demands:
Be able to hand lift various objects weighing up to 100 pounds. Walk, bend, kneel, lift, stretch, and sit. Work extended hours outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Some Travel and Saturday work is required
