Job Description

Position Overview A2Z Construction Services is hiring a reliable and motivated Construction Laborer to support our demolition, grading, excavation, and sitework crews. This is a hands-on field position involving a variety of general construction tasks across residential and commercial projects. Applicants must have at least one year of construction-related field experience and must be legally authorized to work in the United States. We are looking for someone who takes safety seriously, arrives ready to work, follows direction, and can handle physically demanding outdoor work. Experience with demolition, excavation, grading, or sitework is strongly preferred. Key Duties Support crews on residential and commercial demolition and sitework projects. Keep jobsites clean and organized by collecting and removing debris, waste, and construction materials. Load, unload, transport, and organize equipment, tools, and job materials. Provide ground support to equipment operators and foremen during excavation, grading, demolition, and site preparation. Operate common hand and power tools, including shovels, rakes, brooms, sledgehammers, saws, jackhammers, and similar equipment. Complete hand excavation, trench cleanup, backfilling, and finish grading when needed. Act as a spotter for trucks and heavy equipment operating on the jobsite. Set up and maintain temporary fencing, safety barricades, signs, erosion-control measures, and other site protections. Assist with dust suppression and maintain clean, safe working areas. Follow all company safety policies and use required personal protective equipment. Watch for jobsite hazards and promptly notify the foreman or supervisor of unsafe conditions. Carry out directions provided by foremen, superintendents, operators, and project management. Handle additional construction or general labor tasks as required. Required Qualifications Minimum of one year of construction, demolition, excavation, grading, or related field experience. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Capable of performing strenuous physical work throughout the workday. Able to safely lift and carry approximately 50 to 75 pounds. Comfortable working outside in hot, cold, dusty, dirty, and changing weather conditions. Comfortable working near excavators, skid steers, loaders, dozers, dump trucks, and other construction equipment. Able to safely operate basic construction hand and power tools. Reliable transportation and consistent, on-time attendance at assigned jobsites. Strong work ethic and ability to work effectively as part of a crew. Able to understand and follow verbal directions. Available for overtime and occasional weekend work when project schedules require it. Preferred Experience Previous employment with a demolition, excavation, grading, underground, or sitework contractor. Experience serving as a ground spotter around trucks or heavy machinery. Familiarity with standard construction safety procedures and jobsite practices. Valid driver's license and a good driving record. Bilingual English and Spanish skills are a plus. Physical Demands This role involves frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, digging, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling. Team members must be capable of safely performing physical work for extended periods while working around active construction operations and heavy machinery.
