WATER FEATURE CONSTRUCTION TECHNICIAN
Do you love working with your hands? Do you take pride in building something beautiful with your own two hands? Are you fascinated by water features, rockwork, landscaping, and the process of transforming an ordinary backyard into something extraordinary? If you enjoy working outdoors, solving problems, learning new skills, and seeing the results of your hard work every day, AquaLife Ponds may be the place for you. We are looking for a hardworking, motivated, and dependable Water Feature Construction Technician to join our growing construction team. No extensive experience is required—we are willing to train the right person. What matters most is your attitude, work ethic, reliability, curiosity, and desire to learn. What You'll Do As a Water Feature Construction Technician, you'll be involved in projects from start to finish. This is a hands-on position where no two days are exactly alike. A typical day as a water feature construction technician may include:
  • Building ponds, waterfalls, streams, rock walls, shelves, and other custom water features from the ground up
  • Renovating existing water features
  • Draining and cleaning water features
  • Installing plumbing, pumps, filtration systems, and lighting
  • Working with natural stone, rock, gravel, soil, plants, and other landscape materials
  • Measuring, planning, troubleshooting, and solving problems in the field This is physical, hands-on work. You'll spend your days outdoors, working with rock, water, tools, and materials—and you'll finish the day knowing you helped create something that didn't exist that morning. The Person We're Looking For We're looking for someone who:
  • Takes pride in craftsmanship and pays attention to detail
  • Enjoys building, creating, and working with their hands
  • Has a strong work ethic and takes ownership of their responsibilities
  • Is reliable, punctual, organized, and resourceful
  • Can work independently while also being a strong team player
  • Is proactive and learns to anticipate what the team will need next
  • Has a positive, can-do attitude
  • Enjoys solving problems rather than being discouraged by them
  • Is curious and willing to ask questions
  • Communicates clearly and professionally
  • Has a good sense of humor and enjoys being part of a positive team
  • Wants to learn a skilled trade and build a long-term career You should be comfortable with:
  • Working outdoors year-round and in changing weather conditions
  • Working around water, rock, mud, plants, and construction materials
  • Lifting and moving 50+ pounds repeatedly throughout the workday
  • Performing physically demanding work for extended periods
  • Learning to safely use construction, landscaping, and specialty tools
Experience & Requirements Required:
  • Fluent in English
  • Valid driver's license
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work and lift 50+ pounds
  • Professional attitude and strong communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and follow company processes Preferred, but not required:
  • Plumbing experience or knowledge
  • Low voltage electrical experience or knowledge
  • Construction experience
  • Landscaping experience
  • Experience using hand and power tools
  • Experience in a skilled trade, service industry, or other hands-on field
  • Customer service skills Don't have pond or water-feature experience?
That's okay. We will train the right candidate. We're more interested in your work ethic, attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn than in having a perfect résumé.
What We Offer Starting pay:
$21/hour with an opportunity to advance to $23+/hour as you develop skills and take on additional responsibilities.
  • Performance review after 90 days with opportunities for raises and bonuses
  • Monthly bonus opportunities based on completing projects on time and within project goals
  • Paid sick time (40 hours max/year and can use after 90 days of employment)
  • PTO beginning after 90 days
  • Six paid holidays after 90 days
  • Training through Aquascape University and other industry leaders
  • Opportunities to develop valuable construction, plumbing, landscaping, and water-feature skills
  • A supportive, team-oriented work environment
  • Opportunities for professional growth and advancement About AquaLife Ponds AquaLife Ponds is an award-winning water feature design, construction, and maintenance company based in Costa Mesa, California.
