FUNCTION
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, perform a variety of construction, maintenance, and repair work on District facilities, grounds, building facilities, and equipment.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
(Incumbents may perform any combination of the essential functions shown below. This position description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, knowledge, or abilities associated with this classification, but is intended to reflect the principal job elements accurately.) E = Essential Functions Assist buildings and grounds personnel in the daily activities of the department and special projects. E Assist buildings and grounds trades in the repair or renovation of District buildings, facilities, and equipment. E Load and unload supplies; lift and move heavy objects; lift and carry stone, gravel, dirt, asphalt, lumber, and other materials as directed. E Load and unload school and construction equipment such as scaffolding, portable stages, machinery, and furniture. E Drive a District vehicle to transport trash, dirt, building supplies, materials, and equipment. E Assist in anchoring and securing computers, monitors, copiers, microwave ovens, refrigerators, other equipment, and machinery as required. E Assist in the repair of cafeteria tables, benches, service carts, and other related equipment. E Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools and equipment. E Clean culverts, drains, and ditches and remove undergrowth. E Assist in swimming pool maintenance, as directed. E Change heating, ventilation, and air conditioner (HVAC) filters. E Work with all District employees, architecture and engineering employees, and outside contractors. E Perform related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
TRAINING, EDUCATION
AND EXPERIENCE
Any combination of education, training and/or experience equivalent to: graduation from high school and two years experience in general construction, maintenance and repair work.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Valid California Driver's License Employment eligibility will include fingerprints, tuberculosis and/or other employment clearance
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures governing workscope Safety and Health Protection on the Job (OSHA Regulations) Safe working methods and procedures Common tools, materials, equipment, and terminology used in the general maintenance trades
ABILITY TO
Properly use and operate tools and equipment common to the maintenance trade Interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures governing workscope Communicate effectively in English orally and in writing Understand and follow oral and written instructions Meet schedules and timelines Maintain routine records Complete work independently with minimal supervision Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships Observe all legal and District defensive driving practices
WORKING CONDITIONS
ENVIRONMENT:
Indoor and outdoor environment; driving a District vehicle to conduct work; regular exposure to fumes, dust and odors; seasonal heat and cold or adverse weather conditions; working around equipment having moving parts; working on ladders or scaffolding
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
