The ideal candidate is highly skilled in commercial-grade wallcovering installation and takes pride in precise, efficient, high-quality craftsmanship. We are looking for a member in good standing with IUPAT District Council 16, or willingness and eligibility to become dispatched through DC16 before beginning work. Duties Install vinyl wallcoverings, wallpaper, fabric-backed coverings, and specialty wall finishes in commercial and institutional settings. Prepare substrates by patching, skim coating, sanding, priming, and removing existing coverings to achieve proper adhesion and finish quality. Read and follow construction drawings, specifications, finish schedules, manufacturer instructions, and project-specific requirements. Identify and troubleshoot substrate conditions, including moisture, texture, damage, and incompatible existing finishes, and communicate recommended solutions. Coordinate with foremen, project supervisors, other trades, and site representatives to maintain schedule and quality expectations. Maintain accurate time, material, and production records for payroll and job-costing purposes. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and comply with company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and site-specific rules. Work at secured or restricted-access facilities, including federal sites, and follow all badging, screening, and access protocols. Required Qualifications Minimum three years of commercial wallcovering installation experience; journeyman-level proficiency required. Demonstrated proficiency with a wide range of wallcovering materials, adhesives, primers, and installation methods. Strong attention to detail, particularly with layout, pattern matching, seams, corners, and finished appearance. Ability to read construction drawings, specifications, and finish schedules and to perform work independently from written requirements. Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel to project locations throughout Northern California. Ability to satisfy project-specific background checks, drug screening, security clearances, or federal facility access requirements when applicable. Physical ability to lift and carry materials and equipment, climb ladders, work from scaffolds or lifts, kneel, bend, and stand for extended periods. Preferred Qualifications Commercial wallcovering experience and certification. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification and current aerial-lift/scissor-lift training. Compensation, Schedule & Benefits Compensation Hourly wages and employer-paid fringe benefits in accordance with the applicable DC16 collective bargaining agreement, employee classification, and project location. Schedule Full-time field position. Work hours, start times, overtime, and duration may vary by project. Some travel, early starts, nights, or weekends may be required. Benefits Union health and welfare, pension, vacation, apprenticeship/training, and other benefits provided through the applicable DC16 trust funds and collective bargaining agreement. Work Area Projects are located throughout Northern California. Employees are dispatched to active project sites based on company needs and union requirements.
