Job Title:
Door Unloader / Construction Site Material Handler This true temporary role focuses on safely unloading and handling construction materials at active job sites. You work short shifts of approximately four hours at a time for one to two days per week, supporting installation teams by ensuring doors, frames, windows, and related building products are correctly received, staged, and ready for use. You must provide and wear a hard hat, work boots, and high-visibility clothing while working in a new construction environment. Responsibilities Unload trailers carrying construction materials, including doors, door frames, windows, hardware, and other building products. Move, stage, and distribute materials throughout the job site according to project requirements and installation plans. Verify incoming shipments against packing slips and promptly report any shortages, discrepancies, or damaged materials. Organize and maintain material storage areas to support a safe, efficient, and orderly work environment. Lift, carry, and position large or heavy materials, using team lifting practices for heavier items. Communicate with site supervisors, project leaders, and installation crews to coordinate deliveries and material placement. Follow all job site safety policies, procedures, and protocols at all times. Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, including removing debris and keeping pathways clear. Use hand tools, pallet jacks, dollies, and other material-handling equipment safely and correctly. Work effectively in a fast-paced construction site environment while keeping projects organized and on schedule. Essential Skills Dependable, hardworking approach with a strong work ethic and positive attitude. Ability to safely lift and carry up to 75 pounds on a regular basis, with team lifting for heavier items. Comfort working outdoors in varying weather conditions and in active construction environments. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout a four-hour shift. Frequent ability to bend, kneel, stoop, reach, and climb as required by material handling tasks. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety in all aspects of the work. Ability to read and follow delivery documents, packing slips, and material lists accurately. Reliable transportation and punctual attendance for scheduled short shifts. Experience with general labor, loading, unloading, and warehouse operations (preferred). Ability to use pallet jacks, dollies, and basic hand tools for material handling tasks. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in construction, warehouse, material handling, or general labor roles is preferred. Experience handling commercial doors, frames, windows, or similar construction materials is an asset. Familiarity with construction sites, job site workflows, and safety protocols is beneficial. Forklift experience is a plus but not required. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also collaborating effectively as part of a team. Production or warehouse operation experience related to loading and unloading materials is advantageous. Why Work Here? You use pallet jacks, dollies, hand tools, and other material-handling equipment to move and stage doors, frames, windows, hardware, and related building products. Proper safety attire is required at all times, including a hard hat, sturdy work boots, and high-visibility clothing, to ensure safe operation within the construction area. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Hermiston, OR. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
