FG Construction, LLC is seeking dependable and hardworking Canal Bank Protection Laborers to join our field operations team. This position performs hands-on construction work associated with canal bank stabilization, erosion control, shoreline protection, drainage, and related civil construction activities. This is a physically demanding outdoor position ideal for someone who is comfortable working around canals, waterways, heavy equipment, uneven terrain, and active construction sites. Responsibilities Perform general labor associated with canal bank protection, stabilization, and restoration projects. Assist with the installation and placement of riprap, rock, geotextile/filter fabric, bedding material, and other erosion-control materials . Assist crews with grading, excavation, backfilling, compacting, and site preparation. Handle and position materials by hand as required. Assist equipment operators and foremen with ground-level operations. Use hand and power tools such as shovels, rakes, sledgehammers, compactors, and other construction equipment. Help establish and maintain safe work areas around canals, slopes, excavations, and heavy equipment. Perform site cleanup and maintain an organized work area. Load, unload, move, and stage construction materials and tools. Follow instructions from the Foreman and other field leadership. Follow all company safety policies and wear required PPE at all times. Assist with other roadway, drainage, underground, and civil construction activities as needed. Qualifications Previous experience in heavy civil construction, canal work, erosion control, drainage, underground utilities, earthwork, or similar field construction is preferred. Experience installing riprap, geotextile fabric, erosion-control materials, or shoreline/canal stabilization is a plus. Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors for extended periods. Ability to safely work around water, canal banks, slopes, excavations, and heavy construction equipment. Ability to lift and carry construction materials, tools, and equipment. Comfortable working in South Florida weather conditions, including heat, humidity, rain, and direct sunlight. Ability to follow verbal instructions and work effectively as part of a crew. Dependable attendance and reliable transportation to assigned jobsites are required. Must be willing to comply with all company safety requirements and jobsite procedures. Physical Requirements This position regularly requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and working on uneven or sloped terrain. Employees must be able to perform manual construction work for the duration of the workday and safely work in outdoor construction environments. Work Environment Work is performed primarily outdoors on active heavy civil construction sites. Employees may work near canals and waterways, excavations, moving equipment, traffic, mud, dust, noise, and other typical construction-site conditions.
