Job Description

Job Overview The Pipe Laborer provides essential multi-discipline support for the installation and rehabilitation of large-diameter sanitary sewer, water, and stormwater systems. This role involves manual earthwork, material handling, and site maintenance to support production momentum. Duties & Responsibilities Execute manual tasks including hand-digging, fine-grading, and the installation of trench shoring/shielding (trench boxes, slide rails). Assist in the staging and movement of pipe (DIP, PVC, HDPE) and bedding materials. Manage the cleaning and preparation of pipe joints for the Pipe Layer. Strictly follow OSHA standards for deep trenching, confined spaces, and heavy equipment spotting. Assist with the setup of safety perimeters and signage. Act as a spotter for heavy equipment and assist in the rigging and signaling of pipe and materials. Maintain a clean and organized work area - oversee the proper storage and maintenance of hand tools and small equipment. Assist in rapid-response repairs and on-call emergency services as required by municipal clients. Qualifications & Requirements Previous experience in heavy civil, utility, or pipeline construction is preferred. Familiarity with various piping materials and basic trenching protocols is preferred. Strong commitment to safety, quality, and production. Must be able to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions and confined spaces. Reliable transportation and the ability to work out of town as required by project schedules. Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening/physical. Authorized to work in the US.
