Job Description

Johnson Fencing LLC is a family owned fencing contractor in business since 2018. We work mostly within a 40 miles radius of Oskaloosa Iowa with occasionally overnight travel for larger jobs (once or twice a year). We build agricultural type fencing including barb wire, woven wire, and full welded pipe fence. Additionally we build and fabricate panels, gates, feeders, and handling facilities. We do not build residential type fencing such as privacy or chain link. We run with 2 full time employees year around and add part time help in the busy summer months, plus the owner works daily with the crew. It is hot, moderately physical work. Applicants should have no issues with tardiness and be able to show up on time. Typical work hours are 7am to 5pm. Start time may be 5 or 6am during periods of extreme heat being done for the day by 1 or 2 pm. We are looking to hire a full time, year round, employee. In the busy summer months the ideal candidate would work alongside the full crew on various fencing job sites with tasks ranging from welding, running the skid steer, to stringing wire and clipping posts. If the owner needs to leave the jobsite, employee is expected to show respect and follow directions of lead man without complaint. Overtime is typical during the summer months with between 40 and 50 hours/wk. Overtime is paid as 1.5x wage. Winter months can vary with hours between 30 and 40 per week. Employees may us to PTO to make a full 40 hrs on slower weeks but are not required to. In slower winter months work can range from continuing to build fence to shop fabrication. Applicants should have 2 years+ experience in Welding Skid Steer operation or equivalent heavy machinery Agricultural Fence Building Valid drivers license required. A Class A CDL is preferable but not required. The ideal candidate is someone who appreciates the feel of a small family owned business and is looking to stay and grow with us long term. Starting in January 2027 we will be offering group health insurance and health savings accounts.
