Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Construction Crew Leader to oversee and coordinate construction projects from start to finish. This role is vital in ensuring that projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. As a Construction Crew Leader, you will manage daily operations on-site, supervise teams of construction workers, interpret technical drawings, and ensure compliance with all safety and construction regulations. Your leadership will drive project success while fostering a collaborative and safety-conscious work environment.
Duties Administrative:
Represent the District and coordinate activities with other City departments, external agencies, and private entities. Assist the Operations & Inspections Manager on assigned projects. Prepare reports as assigned. Supervise assigned staff.
Construction:
Lead and participate in the work of crews assigned to the construction, maintenance and repair of Michigan City Sanitary District collection systems and facilities. Monitor and guide crew members to ensure the safe and effective completion of projects. Work with management personnel to plan, schedule and prepare for projects and activities. Prepare work orders and assign tasks to crew members. Record work activities at end of day. Report project status to management personnel Assist with the establishment of Collection System and Water Reclamation Department goals, objectives, schedules, and work methods; recommend and implement operating policies and procedures.
General:
Learn safe work practices; learn and observe all appropriate safety precautions as required by the District. Follow written orders, verbal orders and Standard Operating Procedures to maintain facility compliance with NPDES Permit. This duty includes the responsibility to report overflows, bypasses, and non-compliance to your Supervisor. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Work variable shifts, overtime, on-call, weekends, and holidays as assigned. Interact positively with the public. EDUCATION,Requirements Proven experience in construction management with a strong background in commercial or heavy civil projects Demonstrated supervisory experience managing teams in a fast-paced construction environment Proficiency with construction management software including Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Primavera, HeavyBid, and Management tools like Contracts and Prolog Strong knowledge of construction regulations including OSHA standards and federal safety regulations Skilled in blueprint reading, interpreting technical drawings, and reviewing construction drawings for accuracy Ability to coordinate construction schedules effectively and manage project timelines using Primavera P6 or similar tools Excellent communication skills for managing teams, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring safety compliance Familiarity with budgeting processes, construction estimating, quality control procedures, and safety management practices Valid OSHA certification; additional certifications such as OHMMeter certification or pipeline safety are a plus Construction site experience with a focus on supervising crews and managing multiple tasks simultaneouslyJoin our team as a Construction Crew Leader where your expertise will directly contribute to the successful delivery of complex projects. Pay:
$24.84 - $26.37 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
