Overview Monarch is looking for an experienced Construction Laborer with a solid carpentry background to join our team building quality homes, remodels, and light-commercial projects in Northwest Indiana. This role is for someone who's spent real time on the tools rough framing, sheathing, subfloors, wall and roof systems and can work independently with minimal direction while still taking guidance from the Crew Lead or Site Supervisor. Responsibilities Perform skilled carpentry and general labor across rough and finish construction, with an emphasis on framing (walls, floors, roofs), sheathing, and rough carpentry tasks Read basic framing plans and layouts, measure and cut lumber accurately, and assemble structural components to spec Assist with concrete/flatwork, site prep, and material handling as needed Work independently on assigned carpentry tasks and help guide newer helpers/laborers on-site Follow instructions from the Crew Lead or Site Supervisor with minimal need for repeat direction Keep the job site clean, organized, and up to safety standards Identify and flag potential issues or safety hazards before they become problems Requirements 2-4 years of hands-on carpentry experience required, with solid rough framing skills (walls, floors, roof systems, sheathing) Comfortable reading basic plans/layouts and working from measurements with accuracy Own a full set of standard carpentry hand/power tools (framing hammer, tape measure, cordless drill, circular saw, level, speed square, etc.) Reliable transportation to job sites Valid driver's license and clean driving record Pass background check and drug screening Physically able to lift 50+ lbs, stand/bend/kneel for full shifts, work on ladders, and handle full days outdoors in all weather Strong work ethic, reliability, and a positive, team-first attitude What We Value Strong communication and teamwork Problem-solving acumen Reliability and punctuality Pride in craftsmanship and attention to detail
