Construction Laborer Job Description The Construction Laborer performs a wide range of manual tasks to support concrete, masonry, and general commercial construction projects. This role involves preparing surfaces for concrete, handling and moving materials, maintaining a safe and clean job site, and assisting with various construction activities using hand and power tools. The position requires consistent physical effort, attention to safety, and the ability to follow schedules and instructions while working both independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities Perform a variety of manual labor tasks in concrete and masonry construction projects, including preparing surfaces for concrete placement. Shovel, spread, and place concrete into designated construction areas. Support general labor activities that may extend beyond concrete work, assisting with a wide range of tasks as needed on the job site. Maintain a clean and organized job site by picking up tools, equipment, and debris and securing the site each day to eliminate potential hazards. Handle, move, and store construction materials safely and efficiently. Load and unload trucks, including hauling and hoisting materials to designated locations. Operate basic construction tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner. Follow all safety guidelines and ensure proper safety and incident reporting procedures are adhered to at all times. Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding task status, safety issues, and site conditions. Work in various departments or areas of the project as assigned, adapting to changing tasks and priorities. Essential Skills At least 1 year of experience in general labor within construction environments. Experience in concrete construction, including working with forms, framing, and concrete placement. Experience in commercial construction settings. Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively. Basic knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in concrete and masonry construction work. Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions on construction sites. Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately. Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to the work schedule. Ability to lift heavy objects up to approximately 75 lbs, walk and stand for long periods, and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. Ability to work on uneven terrain and move between buildings throughout the day. Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing. Willingness and ability to work in a variety of departments and adapt to different tasks. Additional Skills & Qualifications OSHA 10 certification. Basic understanding of blueprints and construction drawings. Familiarity with construction equipment operation. Comfort working with concrete-related tools, forms, and framing systems. Proper personal protective equipment is required at all times, including steel-toe footwear, a hard hat, and safety glasses. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kansas City, KS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
