This is a permanent part-time position responsible for routine grounds maintenance, landscaping, cleanup, minor repairs, and other hands-on work throughout the City. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, can work independently, notices when something needs attention, and is comfortable using basic modern technology to communicate and document completed work.
Schedule The typical schedule is:
    Tuesday:
    8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
      Thursday:
      8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
      • Approximately 16-24 hours per week , depending on season and workload Additional hours, particularly during the growing season, may be available.
      Friday will generally be the preferred additional workday when a third day is needed. We understand that outdoor municipal work does not always fit neatly into the same schedule every week. Workdays may occasionally shift due to weather, projects, City events, seasonal workload, or employee availability. We value reasonable flexibility in both directions. What You'll Do Typical work may include:
      • Mowing, trimming, edging, and weed control
      • Maintaining landscaped islands, garden beds, and City Hall grounds
      • Watering trees, flowers, and landscaping
      • Mulching, planting, leaf cleanup, and seasonal grounds work
      • Picking up litter, brush, and debris
      • Assisting with minor street, sidewalk, sign, and right-of-way maintenance
      • Performing basic City Hall and facility maintenance
      • Painting and minor non-specialized repairs
      • Organizing and maintaining Public Works equipment and storage areas
      • Assisting with snow and ice removal
      • Storm and debris cleanup
      • Setting up and breaking down equipment for City events
      • Completing assigned resident service requests
      • Identifying and reporting maintenance or infrastructure concerns throughout the City
      • Operating City vehicles, lawn equipment, power tools, and hand tools as authorized
      • Taking photographs and briefly documenting completed work As Bel Nor continues developing its in-house Public Works program, this position may grow in responsibilities. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is:
      • Reliable and punctual
      • Comfortable working independently
      • Physically capable of performing outdoor maintenance work
      • Able to follow written and verbal instructions
      • Comfortable working outdoors in changing weather
      • Able to safely use basic lawn and maintenance equipment
      • Comfortable using a smartphone and basic technology
      • Able to use email, electronic timekeeping, digital work orders, and photographs
      • Professional and courteous when interacting with residents and City staff
      • Willing to communicate when a task cannot be completed or when something needs additional attention Minimum Qualifications
      • At least 18 years old
      • Valid driver's license
      • Acceptable driving record for operation of City vehicles
      • Ability to lift and carry approximately 50 pounds
      • Ability to safely perform the physical duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
      • Basic smartphone and technology proficiency Preferred Experience Previous experience in any of the following is helpful but not required:
      • Landscaping or lawn care
      • Grounds maintenance
      • Property or facility maintenance
      • Parks maintenance
      • Construction or handyman work
      • Public Works
      • Equipment operation
      • Snow and ice removal Municipal government experience is not required.
      About the Position This is intended to be a long-term, permanent part-time position, not simply seasonal employment. Work will naturally change throughout the year. Spring and summer will include more mowing, landscaping, weed control, watering, and grounds maintenance, while fall and winter may include leaf cleanup, facility maintenance, snow and ice response, equipment maintenance, and other projects. The City is working toward performing more routine Public Works services in-house, and the responsibilities and available hours of this position may grow as that program develops. Compensation $19.00-$23.00 per hour , depending on relevant experience and qualifications.
