The Village of Churchville Department of Public Works is seeking qualified applicants for a Laborer/Motor Equipment Operator position in anticipation of an upcoming retirement. This position will perform a variety of duties related to the maintenance and operation of Village infrastructure, facilities, grounds, and equipment. Work includes, but is not limited to, construction and preventative maintenance of roads, sidewalks, parking lots, sanitary sewers, and storm sewers; building, grounds, and cemetery maintenance; snow removal from streets, sidewalks, and parking lots; landscape and tree maintenance; brush and leaf pickup; and the operation and maintenance of equipment and vehicles. The successful candidate must be willing and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and be available for call-in assignments as needed. Candidates must possess the physical strength and ability to perform manual labor, follow established safety procedures and directions, learn new skills quickly and efficiently, and work effectively as part of a team. Minimum qualifications for this position include possession of a NYS Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL), or possession of a NYS Class D driver's license with the ability to obtain a NYS Class B CDL within twelve (12) months of employment and maintain the CDL throughout the term of employment. A minimum of two (2) years of experience in the operation of construction tools and equipment and in performing manual labor is required. A strong background in construction or municipal operations is preferred.
