Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Welder/Laborer to join our dock building team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse construction and metal fabrication projects, utilizing a wide range of welding techniques and mechanical skills. The ideal candidate will be passionate about craftsmanship, safety-conscious, and eager to contribute to high-quality fabrication work that meets industry standards. This paid position provides valuable hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment, supporting both personal growth and team success. Responsibilities Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and mechanical blueprints to accurately fabricate metal components. Perform various welding processes including MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) in accordance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards and ASME codes. Measure materials precisely using calipers, micrometers, measuring instruments, and shop math to ensure accurate fabrication. Operate power tools, hand tools, plasma cutters, and other machining equipment for cutting, shaping, and assembling sheet metal and metal materials. Fabricate, assemble, and install metal structures on construction sites or in fabrication shops while adhering to safety protocols at all times. Maintain a clean and organized work environment; inspect finished products for quality control against technical specifications. Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines while ensuring compliance with safety standards and technical requirements. Qualifications Prior construction site experience or metal fabrication shop experience is highly desirable. Proficiency in reading blueprints, technical drawings, and interpreting mechanical blueprints. Knowledge of welding techniques including MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW, and gas metal arc welding processes. Familiarity with measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures for precise fabrication. Mechanical knowledge related to assembly, machining, plasma cutting, and the use of power tools. Ability to interpret technical drawings accurately and apply shop math effectively. Understanding of safety protocols relevant to welding environments and construction sites. Strong mechanical blueprint interpretation skills combined with basic math skills necessary for fabrication tasks.
